Due to this unseasonably warm weather, my garden seems to be still growing strong.
The peppermint is still growing, there is kale, chard, broccoli, sage...

Today I am realizing how much I need to get done for ladies' night in town on thursday (getting more things ready to go into the Present shop) and for my last fair on Saturday!
Today I am dying silk, felting owls and mermaids, finishing the nest mobiles I keep saying that I am going to make and trying to get a bit more organized!

Some things I am liking today:

-I have fallen in love with the Downtown Abbey series (thank you Vibeke for this link!)
-This blog and this blog
-I am trying to make time to knit this cowl

What are some things you are doing today?

p.s. don't forget about the free shipping for anything in the shop this week.
Just use the code SHIPFREE at checkout!

Owls and Beach Stones

I have been on a crocheting frenzy the last few days,
I have already listed a few of my new crochet covered beach stones
(with the stones I have collected from one of the local beaches in my town)
in my SHOP.
And now I am making myself take a break to get some little owls finished up.
...
Here is a preview of some of the stones yet to be listed:

I am just realizing how nice it was out today
and wish that I got outside more...
hmmm,
maybe tomorrow will be even better.

Have a good night!

The Jumping Fox and The House Wife

I am a bit tired right now, but in a good way.
I spent a good chunk of time and energy shoveling snow this morning.
I haven't shoveled snow yet this year because the Mr. always gets to it first.
I kind of like shoveling snow though, it is a great work out especially because we have to shovel a "racetrack" for the dogs.
Then I had a lot of cleaning to do with Miss Poesy's play area and I had to go out and feed the birds, make sure the stove is stoked and remember to eat lunch.
I also have been working on things in between chores,
a little crochet here a little felting there, as well as some computer time too...
I am a bit of an obsessive multi-tasker.

Anyway, I am settling down to work on more things at this time and as I was checking my tumblr I found this quote which I quite like:

…What a traditional woman did that made her home warm and alive was not dusting and laundry…Her real secret was that she identified herself with her home…her affection was in the soft sofa cushions, clean linens, and good meals; her memory in well-stocked storeroom cabinets and the pantry; her intelligence in the order and healthfulness of her home; her good humor in its light and air. She lived her life not only through her own body but through the house as an extension of her body; part of her relation to those she loved was embodied in the physical medium of the home she made.
Cheryl Mendelson’s Home Comforts, Chapter One

I think it is a noble profession to be a house keeper (or house wife).
It is a job that requires skill and grace and organization and planning.
And it is something to be proud of.
...
I hope you are all enjoying the afternoon,
I am in search of my snow shoes because I feel it might be a little too deep for just regular boots in the woods.
I love the snow!
Do you like the snow?

yesterday and today

I spent all day yesterday felting.
I was trying to get some scarves, cowls, belts and cuff bracelets made for my appointment with a local shop at the end of the week!
Today I will be working on more, plus some felted owls and mermaids.

Some new work hanging to dry.

Poesy was being awfully cute with her slices of tangerine!

(sorry for the blurry photos)
She went to the vet today to have her feathers trimmed (for safety) and the vet said that she was a bit chubby.
We are going to have to do something about that, Miss Poe.
Now how to get a picky bird to eat what you want her to!?!
...
Look at the wonderful ornament that I got from my ornament swap partner, Emily!

Thank you, Emily!
I love it!!!
...
On a side note, I would like to become a more adept knitter.
I would like to learn how to make fingerless mittens,
among many other things!
any suggestions on easy intructions?
(and by easy I mean a 5 year old could follow, I have very limited skills)

Some Details of Today

Today I worked a little on orders and helped Andy load and transport the wood that he harvested from the woods (which really means he did most of the work!).
But the best thing about today was the fact that I finally got to "meet" Danielle and Flojo from Dinosaur Toes!!!
(Poesy was in nap mode, so she only made a brief appearance to meet them!)
I was so excited and a little nervous when we actually set a time to have an ichat date.
I get nervous on phones and had never used ichat before.
But it was fun and easy and really cool seeing as I live up here in New England and Danielle lives in Virginia!
You know how before you meet someone that you know a little bit about you create a persona in your head?
Well, she was just as nice as I had imagined!
By the time we "hung up" I realized that we had been talking for almost 2 hours and probably could have gone on much longer if my stomach would have behaved itself!
Flojo even danced a little and was chattering and cuddling with her while we were talking,
She is so cute!!!
Anyway, I can't wait to have another ichat date!

Now I am just relaxing on the futon in front of the woodstove trying not to get too sucked into the internet (HA!) and thinking about what projects need to be worked on.
Oh, and I heard that we may get snow this weekend!!!
Wouldn't that be grand!?!

Have you had snow where you live yet?

isn't this a funny and cute photo of Veda?
I just found it from this spring when we went with some friends to Halibut point over in Rockport!
Here are a few more:

Not quite sure what I was doing in this last photo, maybe I was soaking up the sun before it set (?)

Good Morning!
I have a lot that I need to work on today, but first I think I am going to attempt to get some cleaning done!
I have been feeling on and off lately and was sick again this morning, I must still be fighting the bug that I had,
but I am feeling a little better right now, so I am going to try to get as much done as possible.
I am so excited because we were lent a new (to us) wood stove which far surpasses the hunk of junk we had before.
I can't even say how happy I am!
Last night it was in the 20's and it stayed so warm in here, I barely needed blankets!
I love waking up to a warm house.

Yesterday when I was outside playing with the dogs, I looked in the garden and found a few little baby carrots that were still growing!
They are so cute, don't you think?!?

Well, I guess I better go make some breakfast and get the day rolling.
It is really clear and sunny, but it is definitely getting colder out!
Have a shiny day!

at the fair...

At the Waldorf Holiday Fair...

It was so busy that I could barely go around to see who else was there and since I was vending by my lonesome, there wasn't really a chance for any other photos of the other rooms...
But I did remember to take some pictures of my display which I was pretty happy with.
Display is not my favorite thing, but it seems to be getting better with every show!
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend and getting ready for Thanksgiving!
I am exhausted, but am going to try to get some work done,
the next fair is just around the corner and I have a lot to do!

Hmmm...

The temperature is so beautiful today!
60 degrees in late October is not bad for New England!
Ok, now that I am home from my errand running and business meeting, I am trying to be productive...
HA!
My intention is to be working on some more felted owls and mermaids for an order, but I just found myself indulging in all the lovely blogs that I both do and don't follow.
It is so easy to get carried away!
(Sigh!)
Anyways, this is a bit random, but I love bats and think they are so cute!

Not to mention that I live by vernal ponds which equals mosquito madness in the warmer seasons!
So it is needless to say that I am very thankful for all of the bats that live around us and swoop around filling their bellies in the twilight and dark hours.

Also, I really want to have chickens!
How cute is this little fluff-ball?

alexandraintheforest: my man and one of our new baby chickens.

And the man is pretty easy on the eyes too (*wink*)!

Hope you all are having a lovely afternoon!

A bit about Nateva...

This is Frank... Probably one of our most popular puppets (with our friend Sylvana).

ok, it has been a while. I am feeling so fried from this past week! First we went to Nateva, which was great, except the security and staff had awful communication and gave us a really difficult time! Other than that, I was so excited to see the Flaming Lips play! I even got to meet Wayne Coyne (lead singer) and most of the band back stage... We told him how much we enjoyed his music and that we would love to do puppets for the show and invited him to our big tent to check them out.... He came back later (and of course I wasn't there so everyone got a photo but me!) and loved the puppets, supposedly, and said a couple could come one stage!!!!!

Well, that didn't happen. Apparently the security didn't know anything about it and we really mean a shoved Andy. What JERKS!!! I am a little confused also because some other girls that were at our tent (not with us) got passes to go on as dancers for the show! So I ask, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??? We didn't get a pass...

In the crowd for George Clinton! He was AWESOME!!! First time seeing him, totally impressed, great to hoop to!

Anyways, I was still happy to meet him and just hoping that he isn't a complete jerk and lying to us...

Puppets hanging out at the tent in between outings!

Fireworks at the festival sunday night!

Other than that, I have been trying to rest and working a lot gardening (which is awful in this heat). I was so happy to have to work, only to lose the money to my car because I bumped a curb at the grocery store and busted my radiator. Totally sucky!

I am waiting to get my car back today, I guess it was a bit of a sign that I needed to take a break. I was so tired from being in crowds and vending and yelling for tips and helping the puppets and hoola hooping and being hot... It is completely exhausting being around thousands and thousands of people for days!

So, what have you all been up to? I am wondering what type of things you guys are interested in, or what you would like to know about.... I am trying to make my blog more interesting, so let me know!!!

Hope you all have a beautiful day!
