Ever have one of those days...
Or weeks...
Where everything seems,
well,
wrong, or bad, or sad, or negative?
I have been having one of those weeks...
I feel a bit like everything is caving around me
and I have no clue what to do.
I am not good with words.
My art (which is also my work) seem to be my only outlet,
my only comfort,
my only way of distracting my mind,
but sometimes I just want to disappear.
I want to be able to skip over these sad moments in my life,
the times when we have to make decisions that are horrible,
the ones that need to be made, but feel like I have no right to make.
My head is swirling and I feel like I can't breath.
It isn't fair.
But I guess that is life, right?

Tumblr

I just wanted to share that I have also started a blog on Tumblr!
I am still trying to figure out how to use it,
but it will be a simple montage of photos that speak to me.

New work, Costume and the Garlic Festival

Good afternoon!
I am so happy that I found someone to watch the animals while we are away at the Garlic Festival this weekend...
Now I have to pack (ugh, YUCK!)
But its ok, we are going early to have some time to poke around, it is so beautiful out there!
..
I am currently saving for an external hard drive so that I can reinstall the photo program on my laptop because it is having an attitude and not letting me upload any photos.
It has been frustrating not being able to use my real camera and not being able to post photos easily.
I have a bunch of new things to put in my shop, but they will have to wait...
Darn computers!
...
Anyhoo, thought I would share a little of what I have been working on lately...
These are a few photos I took with photo booth.

This is the beginning of the skirt that I made for my costume for the Garlic Festival.
I am the Garlic Faery (and Andy is the Garlic Giant on his stilts) and we walk around interacting and having a ridiculous amount of photos taken of us.
I have already dome some of the embroidery on it, but have a little more to do.
Don't mind that my house is a MESS!
...

This is the hat that I made for it, I need to add a few feathers and haven't decided whether or not to embroider garlic bulbs on it or not.
What do you think?

...
Lastly is the vest that I felted.
I have already embroidered a garlic bulb on either side, but I still need to add scapes and maybe roots...

These are among a number of other things that I have been working on lately.
What have you been up to?

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

So sorry for my absence lately. I have been having one hell of a week...
I have been stressed and worried about money (ha! who isn't?) and sad and worried about jacob who is not doing so well, he has been having a harder time walking and starting to pee on his bed more frequently.
It is totally crushing to watch him degress like this.
Also, we are supposed to be leaving Thursday for our next gig, The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, Ny. (which we have been doing for the last 6 years and are BOTH contracted to be at).
I just found out that the person who is supposed to stay at the house with the dogs and bird bailed on me.
I had been trying to contact him all week and weekend because he mentioned something about not being able to stay for the next one in Oct., but he got a hold of me and dropped the bomb about not doing BOTH of them.
I am having a really hard time now finding someone to stay with Jacob, who is basically handicapped.
I am so mad, I don't even know what to say.
So now I am really stressed and have 2 days to find someone.
Not cool at all.
It is hard feeling like you can't trust your friends.
Anyway, sorry for the negative post... Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hang... Again

...And because it just sounds so beautiful...
Here is another!

Hang

This instrument is called the Hang (pronounced more like Hung).
This has to be one of the most beautiful sounding instruments I have ever heard!
I have a friend who has one,
they are heavenly!

A bathtub in my garden...

OH MY GOD!!!
I WANT THIS!!!
I NEED THIS!!!
I always have wanted an outdoor bathtub!
I always tell Andy that when we have a home of our own, I am going to put a bathtub in the middle of my garden.
Totally amazing!
I just can't get over it!
It is SOOO beautiful!

Doesn't this look heavenly?

Pay It Forward

A couple of weeks ago I was visiting one of my favorite blogs, A Butterfly in My Hair.
Vibeke had posted a Pay It Forward and I was lucky enough to sign up in time!
I love these.
So I am going to play along!
For the first 3 people that respond I will send a little something to
and all I ask is that you Pay It Forward!
I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

By the way, I am looking for a good hat like this that will fit my head with my hair...
I used to have a really small head, but now with my hair the way it is, it is much harder to find a well fitting hat!

Glamping

This is a new term that my friend just told me about...
And I have to say, I am liking it!!!
When we are working at the festivals, we tend to bring extra stuff to gussy up the big tent...

So I was excited when my friend posted a link to this marvelous new trend:
GLAMPING!!!
How much better can it get?
I LOVE camping,
but what I have come the realize as I get older is that festival camping is NOT the same as regular old out in the woods camping!
So this whole glamping sounds wonderful to me!
I think that if there was soap and continuous fresh water involved I could live this was all year!
SO...
Here are some photos I have found of this new phenomenon!

I love the outfit this woman is wearing....

So what do you think about it?

Awesome, right?
