something special for Hurricane Irene

I hope you all are safe and dry for Hurricane Irene!
Living on the coast in New England, Hurricanes are just part of life.
The trees need to let go of some old branches and leaves
and the air needs to be stirred up a bit.
Not to mention that the earth loves a nice big drink!

I love watching the tree tops bend and sway as they dance in the lusty gales.
Don't you!?!

So, with that said, for today in honor of Irene I am offering a 15% discount in the shop!
Use the coupon code RAINYDAY when checking out!
That's all.

Well, I am off to build a fort or something of that sort to entertain myself today!
Hope you can still enjoy your day, even if it is all rainy and stuff :)

wearing a bit of sunshine

Find it HERE!

Wouldn't you love to wear a bit of sunshine?
On a rainy day it could light your way,
close to your heart,
illuminating,
warming,
smiling.

The smooth beach stone in this necklace is ancient and full of history.
There is a window so you can see this.
A window made of sunshine.

Hope it is sunshiny where you are today!

IMG_3596.jpg, originally uploaded by Little Owl Arts.

It was hot today at the farmers market and Veda was so good! She followed the shade and ended up in front of my table which wasn't exactly convenient, but cute none the less!

Sunbaked minus the marrow and sinew

I was so happy the other day to go kayaking with my friend dennis.
I haven't been in so long and we went to one of the little islands by his house in Magnolia (where I used to live down the street from him).

It was a great adventure,
I even found some treasures!
I have been looking for bones to work with for some time now
and although I am not exactly sure what I am going to do with them yet,
I know they will be something so beautiful and beloved...

Dennis told me that he had seen a seal that had died out on the island
and when we went out yesterday, we (well, he pointed out to me) found a bunch of vertebrae and ribs and a few other miscellaneous bones.

They are so beautiful and bleached by the sun.
I feel so honored to have been given the opportunity to collect these.
I love that these artifacts have the spirit of the sea sun-baked into them.
I will revere these gifts from the sea.
I love seals.

Have you found any wonderful treasures lately?

Happy Friday!
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

A part of Ancient History

You will love it always.

Don't you just love roses?
The delicate intricacy of they stamen,
the velvety softness of each petal,
the intoxicating and heady fragrance...

You really should take a minute to stop and smell the roses.
I bet it would change your whole day!

Contrast

I am a big fan of contrast and texture,
both of which are exhibited in these new crocheted necklaces.
I love the look of the black thread on the lighter/white stones and beach glass!
They just feel right.

I hope some make it in to the shop!

What sorts of things inspire you?

That quiet, still kind of rain...

Today is raining.
It is that quiet, still kind of rain.
The kind that is good for the mind, body and soul.

This is what I am working on today...
I am going to get some crocheting done.
I finished most of my commissions last night, hooray!
But now it is time for me to get some more necklaces made!

What is the weather like where you are?
Planning on doing anything soothing for the soul today?

Near my friends house...

I saw this.
How amazing are these flowers?
Do any of you know what they might be???

So in love!
