Flaxen and Shining

The woods around my house at the beginning of sunset, looking out from the front yard...

I can't believe how golden everything is.
It looks like the sun has woven its light into the body of each leaf
or like the trees are drinking in flaxen liquor up through each cambium layer and into its veins.
Shining out from within.

I have also been enjoying the mellifluous sound of birdsong as they fatten themselves up with seed at our window feeder.
They land on the chimes on the other side of the door waiting for their turn at feeder and when they jump off in excitement, they jangle the metal pipes into reverberation!
So peaceful and melodic!

P.S. I've noticed a little green light/orb in third and fourth photo.
Do you see it?
What do you suppose it could be... faeries at play?...

poetry in the sky

I came home tonight after the fair to find this video when going through posts of bloggers I follow.
It is incredible.
Definitely take a look!

Murmuration from Sophie Windsor Clive on Vimeo.

Crazy, right?!?

I think so.

So in LOVE with these birds dancing on the breeze,

it's like poetry in the sky!

Hope you are all having a beautiful Saturday night.

I am now trying to decide whether to go out to game night at my friends house, see my friend's bf spin music or just stay home and go to sleep early... All I know is it will be one of the 3.

And with that, I bit you adieu!

Look who Veda found!

Look who Veda found in the yard the other day!
This little fledgeling is still just getting its full feathers in, so it can't fly yet, but its parents are keeping a very close eye on him.
He was so so sweet, when I tried to pick him up, he opened wide for me to feed him!
He was sticking close to the nesting area and in the foliage, so hopefully he will make it to adulthood.
I am pretty sure this robin is the second clutch of the season from a pair of robins who nested in the old greenhouse.
How miraculous!
Oh man, I love birds!

Also, we have some baby cardinals hanging around the feeders (so cute! they are just getting their red) and a whole bunch of yellow finchies.
Last year we had Gus and Fredrika, the yellowfinch couple who took up residence here.
This year there are MANY and it makes me wonder if they are the offspring of Gus and Fredrika...
Plus, I am very excited to announce that a few strawberry finch have found their way to the feeders, so excited!
I have been trying to get them here all year!

Do you have feeders?
What kind of birds visit you?

3 eggs in a nest

Looks like we will be having a few new bird neighbors!
Andy found a few nests around the property,
some with eggs, some old and abandoned.
I still can't get over how vibrant and smooth and amazing these are!
And such detailed nests!!!

The Crane

Spring is always so wonderful after a long winter of quiet, cold and cleansing white.

I was happy the other day to find this crane sitting, waiting, hunting for its meal down the road in the grasses of the cove.
I had to be slow and cunning to get these photos, even at a distance.
Having Veda with me was no help!

What a regal and curious creature.
I love how smoothly he was moving and the way he was darting his beak into the grass and water to snatch a snack.

I am fascinated by cranes.
They have such alien bodies,
with long, twiggy legs and long windy necks topped with a spear for the hunt.
I think I would like to incorporate them in my work somehow.
I wonder how they will emerge?

Do you have any animals that fascinate you?

Meet Russell... and etsy sale!

First I would like to say Yay!
Another follower!!!
Thanks for following to everyone, you are all wonderful!
I want to mention that I am having offering 20% off ANYTHING in my shop today!
Just use the coupon code BUNNYBOY when checking out!

Next...
Remember how I mentioned Russell the seagull the other day?
Well here he is.

Meet Russell, originally uploaded by Little Owl Arts.

The somewhat domesticated seagull was waiting to be fed this morning.
Does he not have the sweetest face?
I think so!
Originally his leg was hurt and he was limping, but he luckily is better now.
But in the meantime, he has become almost like a pet down at the docks.
You can get so close you can almost touch him!
He is still very young, I think this is his first year because his colors haven't changed yet.
Did you know that young seagulls can't fly?
Luckily Russell can fly, but I get so mad when people intentionally abuse these birds because they think they are pests.
Especially the young ones because people don't know that they can't fly yet, even though they look fully grown.
Well hopefully Russell has a long and happy life!
He is so sweet, I almost want to take him home!!!

I HAVE POWER!!!

Today I am trying to get ready for the holiday fair I am in that is tomorrow and saturday!
I was going to try to work on some things last night, but we lost power due to the high winds!
It was so warm yesterday, and windy, it was crazy!

I was really sad that we lost power, though, because Poesy and I were supposed to have an ichat with Danielle and the lovely Flojo from Dinosaur Toes...
I was so excited because it was going to our first "meeting" (and my first time using ichat).
Since I live in Mass and Danielle lives in Virginia, it is the next best thing to actually meeting in person!
But alas, it was not meant to be last night!
So, hopefully soon!!!

So now, before I dive into the realm of work and fiber and felt, I wanted to share the few little owls that I just posted in my shop.

These little cuties are so fun and soft!
They make great gifts and I have added a bit of thread from my collection of vintage threads so they can be hung as ornaments!!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Poesy Bird

Photos of my little feathered friend.
I can't imagine my life without a parrot in it...
I never knew how amazing they are until one came to live with us.
I love her so much!!!

hey birdie bird!

It is absolutely pouring out right now.
I was hoping to take some pictures of my latest creations, but it might have to wait if it doesn't clear up a bit.
I love a good rainy day for working,
it seems to calm me.
But this morning I have to go take my car to be looked at which isn't quite as much fun.
So anyways, I thought I would share this photo I found.

Isn't this bird beautiful?
What amazing colors!
It is a lilac breasted roller...
I think I need to do some research on this amazing little feathered creature.

Very Fine House, Vibeke, and Lola Nova... This is for you!

Ok.
Here we go...
This is WAAAAAY overdue and for that I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart!
Now, first and foremost I want to say THANK YOU!!!
There are 3 wonderful packages that I received from 3 wonderful people!!!

I won these lovely bird related beauties from a giveaway on Micaela's blog Dolce Vita.
It is a wonderful blog by a wonderful girl!
The gifts are from Kate at Very Fine House!
I love birds and was so excited when I won this!!!

I love them both!

Next, a HUGE thank you to Vibeke from a butterfly in my hair!!!
I LOVE her blog so much, she always has such wonderful photos to look at!
I signed up for her Pay It Forward and she sent me the most wonderful package of goodies!!!

First I opened the card... A Dottie Angel card! Amazing!
But it got better!!!
Next was a little package of all her favorite herbal teas.
I LOVE tea and drink it all day long!
So I can't wait to try these ones, they sound so delicious!
And last, she sent me 2 little faery tales wrapped in the most beautiful paper (shown under all the display of goodies).
They are absolutely precious and I love children's books, so I was very happy!
Thank you so much, Vibeke!!!!!

And lastly, but most recently, my Pay It Forward from Alex over at Lola Nova-Whatever Lola Wants.
Again, another spot on gift!
I couldn't be more appreciative!

First was a wonderful crocheted ornament which I cannot wait to hang!
Also, there was a wonderful hand sewn pouch... WITH OWLS!!!
I was so excited to see this, what a great personal touch!

And inside was a hand printed, hand sewn lavender sachet.
I LOVE lavender and thought this was a great addition because I noticed how wonderful the package smelled before I even tore into the beautiful wrapping!
(I also love her personal postcard!)
Alex, you really did a wonderful job, I love it all!!!

Whew! That was a lot!
So now it will be my turn to post another Pay It Forward which I will do in a few days.
I am sorry it took so long to share a post with my thank you's,
but I will have to blame it all on my finicky camera
which would not let me upload photos for a while.
Obviously problem solved...
After much time at the computer store and on the phone with the computer people and spending unnecessary money to fix a problem that wasn't really the problem at all...
Oh well, live and learn... Right?!?
*Much Love*
