treasures from the catskills of new york...

a collection of naturally formed, hand crocheted beach and river stones: here

I have been inspired lately by the river stones I collected while in the Catskills of New York last weekend.
I have a deep love and appreciation for the beauty and intricacy that nature provides,
as well as the texture of the natural objects I find among my adventures both near and far!
It is amazing to me how the texture and colors of the river stones I brought home from NY differ from the beach stones I collect around here on the coast.
So I have been working with these river stones and loving their feel.
I can feel the difference in their spirits,
in their energy...

Also, I have resonated with the japanese Mori Girls and their style for a long time and it just dawned on me how perfectly these seem to fit in,
don't you think?

NEW! NEW! NEW!!!

Finally!
Some color!!!
I have been in search of colored thread for a while now
and finally found some to my likings!

I am so excited about these new crocheted necklaces,
not only are the colors new,
but I have put them on faux leather chord to really make the color POP!
Plus the chord is adjustable.
It's all about versatility, right?!?

Anyway, now I have the ability to reflect the season, mood, or day when making these amazingly colorful adornments.
What do you think?

And as always, all of the beach stones are collected locally!

There is a window so you can see this.
A window made of sunshine.

Hope it is sunshiny where you are today!

Contrast

I am a big fan of contrast and texture,
both of which are exhibited in these new crocheted necklaces.
I love the look of the black thread on the lighter/white stones and beach glass!
They just feel right.

I hope some make it in to the shop!

What sorts of things inspire you?

What's New:

I have been so busy lately,
which is good, right?

Here is a little peek at what I have been working on.
I have a wonderful customer who really loves my work and has donated some of her baubles that she collected for me to crochet (isn't that so sweet!?!).

Also I finally got a couple of flourite necklaces made.
I am thinking they might be a limited item since the people I get most of my crystals from don't seem to have as much of it as, say, quartz and amethyst.
I am hoping to get some more, but I am not sure exactly how much more they have and they aren't mining for it right now...

Anyways, I will be listing the 2 flourite necklaces, along with the other beautiful ones I have made throughout the next few days!
So make sure to check the shop!!!

Until then, have a good night!

Beautifully hand crocheted beach stones.
They are reversible, so it is like getting 2 for the price of 1.
The stones and smooth and well worn by the tide.
I just love them.

it's like magic

What a rainy Sunday!
Is this not the happiest looking pup in the entire universe?
One huge smile as she ran towards me, oh how I love Miss Lou!

Her smiling doggy face makes me so happy, which is good because yesterday and today have been stressful...

First, my camera died.
I mean like dead, dead.
Not "crap I need new batteries... oh, I will get them tomorrow" dead.

Now I am looking to raise money to get this camera.
(so if there ever was a time to support my etsy shop, now is it! ha ha ha!)
But I did manage to get it to give me the last few photos I took on it today,
so that was good.

I really had quite the fit yesterday evening when I put the cotton I had mordanted into the dye jar I had been cultivating for the last few days.
My camera died and then
LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED!
If you remember the color it started from this post,

How amazing!?!
It went from a purply-fuchsia to blueish-purple!
I still can't get over it.

I immediately ran out to harvest a pint sized mason jar full of the flowers that I used!
Now I have some wool yarn that I spun up this winter and some cotton thread soaking in alum as we speak,
can't wait to dye them and see what happens.
I am thinking of using dock leaves.
Or maybe I will dig up the roots and use those...
Or maybe both! HA!

Also, I have some new crocheted necklaces in the shop
and here are a couple more that I will be listing sometime between today and toworrow evening.

These I am very excited about.
The stones are from a couple of friends up the street who mine here in New England.
It is alway fun to go over there!
I traded this batch for some work which you can see here in this post.

I am really excited,
I have some very nice pieces done and more in the process of...

So, how has your weekend been?
What did you do?
