Simple Sunshine

Make time to spend outside.
Every day.
You will find new ways to connect to the world around you.
It will lift you up and renew your spirit, for sure!

Bring a pack, fill it will things you might like to have with you so you can linger. A camera, sketchbook, layers and, of course, tea~

I find that when I am out in the woods or wandering along the coast I am calm, my mind has time and space to just be in the place where I stand (something that is normally quite difficult for me to do).

I feel at peace with myself.
Plunking down next to a little brook with a waterfall and listening to the water babble, my mind is clear. The water does all the talking and I can just listen. Or sitting on a boulder under dazzling, radiant sunshine. Smiling, as I lay back and turn my face toward the glowing warmth.

{WILD}HARVEST

Out with the sun and the wind,
the sound of waves lapping the shore and branches full of birdsong.

Bees humming and dancing
I am immersed in a field of joe pye weed and purple loosestrife.

Open sky, open field, open ocean and a slow pace.
A day of bliss, indeed.

Cat naps in the great sunshine

So I guess today I am all about being a cat. I must be channeling some feline energy.
I have a very active mind, which, unfortunately for me tends to be active somewhere around 3 in the morning. Apparently my brain wants to be nocturnal when my body does not. I also don't really sleep in. combine that with being over-tired and you have a 5 year old, am I right? At least that's how it feels to me in terms of dealing with life when I haven't slept enough.
So, today being beautifully balmy and sunny, I decided to take a hint from what now seems to be our new outdoor kitty (she chose us, for now at least). I brought my yoga mat out onto the deck, accompanied by a book, sketchbook, pens and watercolors and decided to just sit in the sun and rotate reading, painting and sun napping this afternoon. It has been the most blissful idea I have had all week.
And look who showed up all ready to chat and snuggle!

wearing a bit of sunshine

Find it HERE!

Wouldn't you love to wear a bit of sunshine?
On a rainy day it could light your way,
close to your heart,
illuminating,
warming,
smiling.

The smooth beach stone in this necklace is ancient and full of history.
There is a window so you can see this.
A window made of sunshine.

Hope it is sunshiny where you are today!

a day at the beach

Good afternoon!
It is raining here today,
so now I am even happier that I got to spend a good part of the afternoon yesterday
with Andy and Veda at the beach down the street.

It was wonderful,
like a scavenger hunt.
Although Veda spent much of the time looking for crabs under Andy as he moved the seaweed in search of them...
It was quite amusing!

The storms this winter really did a number on the coast line around here
and this little beach was no exception.

I did find a whole bundle of weathered treasures though!

And I found so many beautiful textures and things to photograph!

Which now makes me want a new camera...
One with the ability to really zoom in
or get really close up to little, tiny subject matter.
Any suggestions?
And I have been working on using the manual settings on my (digital) camera,
which I am really liking!
How are you enjoying your day?
