Marshes and Mudflats

The past couple of days were actually sunny and warm!

I walked down to the beach with Veda one day and stopped to take pictures at one of my favorite stretches of marsh the next...

(the island in the distance is Hog Island where they filmed The Crucible many years ago.)

I adore this photo of Ms. VedaLou.

Ears and tail up and waving like flags in a breeze,

running in setter circles with a look of sheer joy and stopping to dig in the sand!

She is the best. For real.

I spent a lot of today resting since I didn't feel all that great (damned headaches).

But I guess that is ok, since it was foggy/misty and cool most of the day.

Now I am off to help Andy sew some costumes and repair puppet bodies.

Indian Blue

So about a month or so ago I found this great etsy shop called Indian Blue

with little hand painted brooches made by a sweet girl, over the big pond, in the UK!

I first bought this one and was completely in love!

It was my friend Danielle's birthday (Dinosaur Toes) and being the fellow bird lover that she is,

I thought she would really love one with sun conures on it to go along with the other gifts that I had for her!

So I contacted Sam and asked her if she would be interested in doing a couple of custom brooches for me (one for danielle and one for me with my birds on it). She was such a delight to work with, very easy going. We ended up chatting back and forth for a bit about animals and life and about our work.

She is going to school for animation, isn't that rad!?!

When I told her what I was looking for, she came up with 3 different designs for each brooch for me to decide from!!!

These are the 2 that I ended up choosing and they are perfect!

How fantastically sweet are they!?!

I can't believe she only charges $7 for each one!

You should definitely check out her etsy shop, she has some other really wonderful animal brooches for sale! They are great little decorations for a sweater, cardigan, or hat and they also make great gifts!!!

Faery baubles...

I just love the new little succulent that was magically left for me this weekend!

It looks perfect next to my camel that I found at the flea market!!!

It is a perfect day today,

not too hot, not too cold and sunny!!!

Also, I have a few new crystals in the shop,

and some more that I will be listing this week.

I got the Canon SX30.

I wanted something that could do a bit of macro,

but I am still learning about it.

Anyone heard of anything about this camera or know anyone who has it?

I would be interested to hear how they like it...

way out yonder

A bit of natures cheer on a gloomy and rainy day.

I have been a bit down lately.

Feeling a bit distracted and distant.

But being outside in nature,

whether it is my yard, the beach or the woods,

really makes me feel brighter.

I hope this cloudiness, both in the sky and in my soul, passes soon.

It is rather exhausting.

Hope you all are feeling joyous of spirit.

On a separate note:

I got my new camera today, though I'm still hoping to make some more sales soon to pay it off...

Still figuring out all the button positions and settings.

Not sure if I should look at an slr instead or not.

Might be too much camera for me at this time,

any thoughts?

A Morning Collection

Just a small collection of things I found on my morning walk in the woods the other day.

I was really excited to find some jack in the pulpits, but what was even better was when I turned my head and saw the whole forest of them on a little faery island in the middle of one of the swampy puddles in the woods!

Also, the lady slippers are starting to bloom!

What curious and elegant flowers they are.

I will have to get some photos soon.

We have friends visiting and helping Andy with puppet making.

Oh, and after a week or more of straight rain and grey skies,

we finally have some SUUUUUN!!!
