Since posting last: Some photos + some happenings

I keep saying to myself that I am going to post here...
And then time whizzes by.
Some days, I don't even know how the world seems to turn so quickly.

There has been a lot on my mind lately, but as much as I am told I am good at communicating, sometimes I just feel like I can't put it all into words. Or that I have enough words.
We have been trying to manifest a move, a super life change. It is taking a while, a good + solid lesson on patience, I guess (not my forte). But I feel things shifting, our new life drawing nearer and I am riled with excitement from deep down. Some days I can barely sit still or focus.

Anyway, here are a few things that are either going on or have happened since my last (and very distant) post:

1. We have gotten a butt-load of snow. I mean like record breaking! It is starting to melt now though (Hooray! I am ready for green and less clothing!)

2. I bought myself a bathing suit on a whim the other day (you know, just to be ready)- now I just need to get my butt in bathing suit wearing condition, ha! Do you have any favorite ways to get in shape? Or a type of movement that you enjoy?

3. I moved my shop/website to a new space. The old etsy shop is still up and running, but I am looking to move away from that platform, maybe all together. You can find Little Owl HERE.
I would love to know your thoughts! Do you like the look, the layout, etc.?

4. Also, I have many new things in the works for Little Owl, some of which are new designs and new styles to be brought in. I have a new print on a new dress style that you can find HERE.
Also, there are now a few men's tees in the shop as well!!!

5. We were totally sucked into this and now I pout every once in a while because we can't watch the 3rd season yet. Boo!

6. I was super excited to do a trade with this awesome lady.
I am totally in love with her work, make sure you pop by her shop and take a look!

7. I have been having itchy feet and the immense feeling of wanderlust. We are planning a trip later this spring. Hopefully flying into Denver and traveling down to northern New Mexico.
I. Can't. Wait.

8. I have never been a runner, but lately all I want to do is go for a jog (read: run a little, walk a little, repeat. Especially since I have 2 puppies + a 13 year old dog who likes to take her time).

9. I signed up for a nature exchange. So fun!
(I hope I can find a few things to send under all this snow!)

10. For my birthday a few months ago I gifted myself this.
I have been wanting this deck for ages and it was a great decision.

11. I have taken quite a few photos since my last post.
If you want to see some more, make sure to pop on over HERE to see...

p.s.
I am having an impromptu sale in the new shop right now!
20% off your entire order, just use the code SHINEON20.
It runs until 1:54 pm, tomorrow.

Dandelion Wishes

Dandelions gone to seed... Make a wish and set it free!

Columbine flowers starting to bloom.

Columbine about to flower.

Red columbine flowers.

Red columbine flowers.

The lilacs are in bloom! A sure sign that spring is heading into summer!

I wish you could smell how amazing these flowers smell. One of my favorite scents!

White lilacs.

Azaleas in bloom. The bees are beyond happy!

Azaleas in bloom.

A little collection of crystals, mined here in New England by a friend. Quartz, amethyst and flourite.

Wishing on a dandelion.

Isn't Spring just glorious?!?
There is nothing like the feeling of flowers bursting into bloom, left and right, as the weather finally warms up and the days are a blur of alternating rain showers and sunny skies.
There are signs of spring turning into summer. Flowers are blooming and bees are happy!
Sometimes all it takes to make me smile is looking just outside my front door.
Beauty is all around.

Misty Day Happy

Veda waiting ahead on the trail.

 I love days like these.
Heavy, foggy, damp.
The woods feel more alive and you can almost see the plant life
growing right in front of you as you pass by.

It is all so alive.

Woodland textures and color.

Many leaves are in full bloom, but some are still working hard and beginning to open.

Moss and lichen taking over a fallen log.

Truly alive and breathing.

And I am realizing that I constantly need this force in my everyday life.
I need alive
and wild,
and birdsong,
and green... and brown...
Trees and leaves and flowers.
And mountains and oceans...

Lichen on a tree. I love the color!!!

The lady slippers are beginning to bloom!!!

Love fern, love the symmetry.

Don't be shy, stand tall and bloom Lady Slipper!

I need to live where things are wild and free.

Where there are more animals roaming than people.
I need to smell the forest floor, of limbs and leaves decomposing.

Mountain Laurel branches are so windy.

Walking, observing, calling the dogs... Testing out how comfy the sample indigo dyed skirt is.

I want to be able to walk for miles.
And explore new place.
Find new favorite trees.

Deciduous. Everything is blooming.

A look into the side wood.

American Sarsparilla is everywhere right now! And blooming!!!

American Sarsparilla flowers.

I miss the mountains.
I love the ocean, but I yearn to live where the mountains meet the sea.

I think that is the Capricorn in me.
But water is a necessity.
(There is also Aquarian in me.)

Ferns unfurling in perfect harmony.

A group of fiddleheads reaching high and leafing out.

Vibrant green ferns.

Little brook we came across.

In some areas there is a sea of ferns!

I need to roam
and explore.

To work for a breath-taking view.
Ramble my way through fern and bramble,
scramble up past trees- reaching out to touch the bark as I pass.

One of the main paths. This one in particular is one of my favorites in the park. There is something comforting and calming about this particular part of the trail.

More ferns unfurling.

Wild violets, what a sweet find, hiding under all the lush foliage!

Looking around, there are so many things to catch my eye, both big and small.
It is a good reminder to slow down and really look around.

There is no rush here.

When You Have To Wait...

The other day I had to run some "errands". These were enjoyable, I got to drive my new car (did I mention I had to get a new car? A VW Jetta TDI Sportswagon, yeah baby!!!), the day was beautiful, picking up eggs from a friend on the way to stopping at the farm store a couple towns over for local milk... I got to the store a little early and decided to wait the 20 minutes in the car until they were open.
Sunroof open (I have an AMAZING sunroof, it is HUGE!!!), windows down, sunny with a slight breeze and in the mid 60's. The dogs were tuckered out and napping from their morning woodland adventure and were now enjoying the sunlight streaming in.

Sometimes it is really easy to get swept up in the moment and forget to (quite literally) stop to smell the roses. While I was sitting, waiting, I realized there was a beautiful blooming tree right in front of me!

So, don't forget to look UP!

Rhus Typhina

Staghorn sumac starting to leaf out.

Staghorn sumac.

~Staghorn Sumac~

I am patiently waiting for the sumac to "flower" for dyeing.
I had such wonderful variation last year, I am curious to see what this year brings.
Definitely one of my favorites!

Do you have a favorite plant?
