All about the happenings...

Some things that have been going on around here lately:

1. The market totes that I had made still haven't arrived. Quite frustrating. I won't even go into it...

2. On a positive note, I am super excited to announce that the postcards I made where a portion of the sales go to support our local, no-kill animal shelter are here!!! I am so excited I can hardly stand still!!!

3. The women's tees that I ordered for my new adventure in screen printing also came today. WOOHOO!!! I am hoping to have some with THIS print in the shop by the end of the week.

4. Apparently it is "make someone smile" week. Like, for real! Fantastic!!!

5. I am so IN LOVE with this photo. And the man. And the dog.

6. My passionflower are going CRAZY!!! I am completely in awe of these intricate flowers. Not to mention that many of the flowers that have passed are actually turning into passion fruit! I have never had that happen before!!! Fingers crossed that they will develop all the way and I will feast on some exotic fruit!

So far that is all I can think of.

Some good, some not so good, some exciting, some just plain wonderful!

Weekend in photos

This weekend has been both a whirlwind and slow as molasses at the same time. If that can even make sense. I have been diving head first into the indigo bath (if you can't tell, ha!). I think I am doing a study in blue, I can't get enough indigo! I'm trying to get myself together and ready for my first fair of the season. I will be set up in Somerville at Assembled next Saturday.

It is most definitely spring now. Everything seems to be lusciously bursting into bloom and I swoon! We went for a nice walk around the resevoire on the edge of the woods today, everything is neon! The green of freshly unfurling leaves and buds popping open is so healing, don't you think? I am finding myself inspired.

Puppy Play and Indigo Day.

Today started off grey and in a fog and after this morning where I almost turned into the hulk because one of my projects just isn't turning out the way I had hoped and after hours of trying to get things to where I can move on from there, I decided I needed to stop working on that project and move onto another that would make me more positive and put me in a better mood...

It seems all the animals wanted to help me with my dying.

How could you not be at least somewhat distracted by this face?

All of the scarves that I dyed seem to be coming out perfectly!

(I am knocking on wood as I type this statement!)

My jar full of the indigo bath seems to be getting exhausted, so it seems like a good time to take a break as I wait for it to revive.

Puppy Obsessed

I am slightly puppy obsessed at the moment...
But c'mon! Look at how ridiculously sweet she is! Such a cuddle-bug!
We are just so in love.
We are now puppy parents to the 2 greatest puppers that ever did live! (I can't obviously forget miss Veda Lou!)

Meet Mu

We went out for a mattress and came home with a puppy.

Meet Mu.

Her full title is Bessie Mu Snugs (doesn't she sound like a famous country singer?!)

A real lady all the way from Alabama and covered in spots like a Jersey cow.

We didn't even make it to the highway!

I just wanted to point out a dog (online) to Nate that I thought we both might like and would be good to protect livestock and chickens one day when we have our farm...

-I know, I know, getting a bit ahead of myself-

Anyway, it was said to be a Great Pyreneese mix (it most definitely was NOT), but there was no picture on the listing. And this is technically where it is Nate's fault that we got a puppy. He's the one who suggested we go look at it since the shelter was on the way to the highway.

We went, we saw and we realized this dog we initially went to see most definitely was not the right dog for us as. At first glance and she was more like a hyper, barky husky (and she was already taken by the time we got there, anyway).

So since we were already there, of course we looked at all the other dogs.

This is how we saw Mu.

It really was love at first sight. And after meeting her, then meeting a few other dogs, meeting her again, then a few more dogs, I decided that I was serious about her and we met with her one more time before we both admitted that we just had to bring her home.

She got us from the start, we were immediately drawn to her beautiful eyes and her freckled piglet belly. Plus when we sat down with her she came right over and crawled into our laps, curled up and made herself at home.

IN. LOVE.

Best decision ever.

Best 'mattress' ever (hahaha!)

She is so well behaved, gets along with all the animals already in the house where we live, already has learned 'sit', and pretty much has 'come' and 'back up'. She is mostly house broken and hardly makes noise (so far)! Pretty impressive for 4 months, I'd say! Her info suggested that she is a pointer/retriever mix, but we think she definitely has some pit in her, too.

I think that Star is happy to have her around, too (Star just turned a year and came from the same shelter when she was 2 months old). I think she thinks we got HER a puppy! All she wants to do is play.

Veda doesn't really care, as long as she doesn't jump on her, eat her food or steal too much attention away from her, she is good. Although, I did catch her joining in on the fun this weekend when they were running around the yard. It was hilarious, I think she feels compelled to run with them sometimes as if she has no control over what she is doing, then she comes to and is 'over it'! Silly lady, I am thankful that she is a fairly young 11 years old though!

As you have probably guessed, I have been a bit distracted.

But I have been trying to work on things, I promise. It is slow, but it is going...

Look Who Got a Haircut!

Veda got her little spring lamby haircut today.

I was sad to see her yeti locks go,

but although they looked wild and beautiful blowing in the gusty spring gales,

once you got your fingers in deep enough,

you would realized that she herself had started to felt!

It was seriously windy today.

What a darling beastie- right!?!

Oh, and the sand face is because she likes to eat sand for some reason.

This happens every time after she digs to China!

She is now a naked little lamb with a velvety fleece.

Its like spring gave birth to entirely new VedaLou!!!

She is as soft as she looks, too.

The second photo is of her curled up in a little puppy ball.

She likes to cross all her poodle toes and wrap them up under her,

like a cat...

Or a hen...

It is so cute

and quite charming!

I can't believe how wonderful it was!

Goodness me! The last few days have been busy!

Friday and Saturday I was at the Stoneridge Montessori Holiday Fair and I have to say, it was amazing!

I have a really great time!

It was a great experience for me and what made it better was EVERYONE there!

I can't say enough about how amazing and wonderful everyone was!

I had such great support and feedback from the parents and wanderers who were shopping,

they all had such lovely things to say about my work.

I sold almost all of my felted owls the first day by mid-day so I had to felt like a mad woman that night to have some for the next day!

Also, all the other vendors were so great!

I love every singe one of them!

They were ALL so supportive and fun and great to meet!

We were all treated so well by the people who worked there and ran the fair!

They even fed us!

And let me tell you, this wasn't a cold sandwich and soda,

They made us popovers with jam in the morning,

offered coffee, tea and cider,

we had a choice of 3 amazing home made soups, mixed green and asparagus salad with buttermilk herb dressing, rosemary bread for lunch,

and to top it off, on friday they offered wine, cheese and fruit after the fair ended while we moved everything into the gym room for the next day!

I now understand why the vendors that had been there previous years all said that they came back just for the food!

No joke!

It was such a happy, warm environment and I feel very blessed to have been there!

There were so many talented people and wonderful handmade things being sold,

I even did a little bartering (which I don't really do much of anymore because I am trying to downsize! Also, I will do another post on what I got!)

This puppy was so cute! Her name is Rafia and she looks just like Veda, but apricot colored and she is going to be 20lbs. smaller! I think if I were to get another dog, this would be what I would look for, soo cute!!!

I can't imagine a better dog (well, really she is more like a human... or so she thinks!),

she is the best dog in the world!!!

She is always there for me when I am happy

or sad

or sick.

She loves me just because.

And I love her!

And she is just so damn cute!!!
