Evolve

Bessie Mu, swimming her furry heart out!

Enjoying a post swim apple while Mu burns a hole through me and drools over said apple.

Taking in the beautiful scenery while cozying up in my newest Little Owl hoodie!

The view from where I ditched my backpack (a safe distance from the water). You can never be too careful with 4 wet dogs running around and swimming!

New logo, new hoodie!

Like bath water. Seriously!

Not a bad view, might need to make this my new "office space".

On one of my many hikes out to a favorite swimming spot. After winding our way through a maze of paths laden with roots and rocks. Past a corridor of boulders left eons ago from glacial shift and melt. Where humans now hook themselves into harnesses and ropes, looking for hand holds, foot holds (whatever holds) in hopes to conquer the climb up each rock face. I think I have found my new "office space".

Hiking is, most often, meditation.

In between throwing the ball ahead for Mu and Margi to chase after and retrieve and looking back to make sure Veda is still trailing behind (she has slowed a bit at almost 13, but still keeps up like a champ!), my mind settles into the pace. My eyes look down at the soft, rooty earth laid out in front of me, there is an owl feather! Then they shift up, look at how the sun streams through branches in the pine grove... I can hear the highway in the distance. It is hard to believe anyone could cut through such a beautiful place to lay pavement and have vehicles whiz around. Instead I pretend I hear waves.

Then my mind drifts. Nature always has been and always will be my muse.
I think about the history of my creative endeavors. I think about all the things I love to do, to create, and all the things I would love to learn. I think about where I started, how I started and how my work has evolved.
Evolution is human nature.
It seems evolution is an art form.

And then I thought about how I do what I do (a question I actually get asked often). And I wonder: "Is this success? What DO I consider success?" (A difficult question to answer, for me at least)

I am so grateful to all of the people who have encouraged me over the years. All the people who have supported me,especially those who are friends and family and demanded to compensate me for my work, even though I would endlessly try to give it to them for free.

In thinking about my past work and where I am now, what I am creating and how I have evolved, I am thinking about what it means when we support handmade. Each time you buy an item from an artist you aren't just giving them some of your hard earned cash, you are telling them 3 things.

1. That you appreciate (value) and encourage their work.
2. That you believe in them.
3. That you anticipate the future of their creativity and seeing what their work evolves into.

This may not seem obvious, but it is true.
I couldn't have done it without all the wonderful people who have helped me evolve.
So, thank you.
I appreciate you, too.
I also look forward to seeing where my creativity leads me. This is my natural path.
And to me that is success.

How do you define success?

p.s. The hoodie above will be in the shop soon!!!

Happy Monday!
I can't believe the weather around here has been so balmy averaging around 60*F!
Am I crazy for wanting it to snow?
I have been looking forward to the woods around me being blanketed in white and going for hikes in the snow.
I mean, I really like not being cold, I like that I can still walk on the beach without being in pain from the wind, but it definitely doesn't feel like the end of November...

So, I guess today is Cyber monday.
I am not really sure what that means, but I am going to be extending the free shipping I had going on this weekend throughout the rest of the week!
So just use the coupon code SHIPFREE at checkout to take advantage of it!

Also, I would like to take a quick moment to say thank you to all of you for reading my blog
and also those of you who have been so wonderful by supporting my work,
supporting a local, small business!

Supporting any small business is wonderful.
I truly appreciate it!
Hugs all around!

A HUGE Thank YOU!

I have been such a bad friend!
I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago when I got a surprise birthday package in the mail,
but the picture were not very good at all
and then time went by,
you know how is goes...
Anyways, I was sooooo excited to receive one of Danielle from Dinosaur Toes' orb necklaces!!!

Not only had I been dying for one and trying to save up for one,
(*note, they are very reasonably priced!
I just have no extra cash as a self employed artist in the depths of winter...)
but she sent the exact one that I had my eye on!
Isn't it beauuuuuutiful!!!

So THANK YOU, Danielle!!!
I wear it everyday.
Acutally, pretty much the only jewelry I wear
(and I don't wear much)
Is from Danielle.
So make sure to check out her website,
you won't be disappointed,
I promise!

P.S. Stay tuned for a giveaway in celebration of 50 followers!!!

Very Fine House, Vibeke, and Lola Nova... This is for you!

Ok.
Here we go...
This is WAAAAAY overdue and for that I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart!
Now, first and foremost I want to say THANK YOU!!!
There are 3 wonderful packages that I received from 3 wonderful people!!!

I won these lovely bird related beauties from a giveaway on Micaela's blog Dolce Vita.
It is a wonderful blog by a wonderful girl!
The gifts are from Kate at Very Fine House!
I love birds and was so excited when I won this!!!

I love them both!

Next, a HUGE thank you to Vibeke from a butterfly in my hair!!!
I LOVE her blog so much, she always has such wonderful photos to look at!
I signed up for her Pay It Forward and she sent me the most wonderful package of goodies!!!

First I opened the card... A Dottie Angel card! Amazing!
But it got better!!!
Next was a little package of all her favorite herbal teas.
I LOVE tea and drink it all day long!
So I can't wait to try these ones, they sound so delicious!
And last, she sent me 2 little faery tales wrapped in the most beautiful paper (shown under all the display of goodies).
They are absolutely precious and I love children's books, so I was very happy!
Thank you so much, Vibeke!!!!!

And lastly, but most recently, my Pay It Forward from Alex over at Lola Nova-Whatever Lola Wants.
Again, another spot on gift!
I couldn't be more appreciative!

First was a wonderful crocheted ornament which I cannot wait to hang!
Also, there was a wonderful hand sewn pouch... WITH OWLS!!!
I was so excited to see this, what a great personal touch!

And inside was a hand printed, hand sewn lavender sachet.
I LOVE lavender and thought this was a great addition because I noticed how wonderful the package smelled before I even tore into the beautiful wrapping!
(I also love her personal postcard!)
Alex, you really did a wonderful job, I love it all!!!

Whew! That was a lot!
So now it will be my turn to post another Pay It Forward which I will do in a few days.
I am sorry it took so long to share a post with my thank you's,
but I will have to blame it all on my finicky camera
which would not let me upload photos for a while.
Obviously problem solved...
After much time at the computer store and on the phone with the computer people and spending unnecessary money to fix a problem that wasn't really the problem at all...
Oh well, live and learn... Right?!?
*Much Love*

Thank You

4484242931_2bda737349_large

I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you who gave me love
and support during these last few days.
Things seem to have gotten better,
I think we are going to try and work things out,
but it feels like there is a lot to work on!
It meant a lot to see positive comments on such a negative post.
And it made me feel very loved (and sane) to read your comments!
So thank you,
you are wonderful friends and great, loving people!
