an extention of sharing things about me

On a whim the other night I did a little post about me.
This is a bit of a follow up,
or extension, if you will, of the first post.
It is in relation to things that I collect
and the little places all around the house in which my collections sit.

I love tea.
I grow a lot of the herbs I make into tea and use as medicine in my garden.
(I was drinking rose and lemonbalm from this teacup)

*side note: I have taken classes and gone through apprenticeships for my herbal studies from many different people.
One of the main people that I learned from was Rosemary Gladstar
at Sage Mountain in Vermont where I did 2 apprenticeships.

I love to drink water with violet flowers in it.
I will leave it out in the sun to make a sun infusion
and sometimes I will leave it out in the moonlight, too, to absorb some of her magic.

One part of my garden.

I also love books, here is a few of the many in my house.
These are mostly books I like to look through for inspiration.

The next few photos are of the little cabinets and places where I have things collected.
Obviously feathers and stones,
as well as some little faery and mermaid statues made by some close friends
(and which I have many because they are so wonderful!)

I LOVE camels.
I am not sure why,
there is just something so primal and mysterious of them.
I have a photo from national geographic of a woman camping out, cooking over a small fire.
It is just her and her camel.
For some reason I just love the photo,
I can't even describe the way it makes me feel.
(I have it in a 'safe place' and will try to find said place so you can see the photo)

This is a painting I did many years ago and it hangs above our bed.
I just really love it, so I thought I would share it.

More collections.
Shells, crocheted stones, little vessels, some of my first needle felted creatures
(and one by my sister).
See that beautiful amethyst?
That was a gift in a swap I did over on Cole's blog.
It is from a new blog friend, Kary
(thanks sweets, I love it! and I hope your ankle heals quickly!).

Some other things I mentioned:
I would love to have a small farm, but the boyf travels a lot and sometimes I go with him,
not to mention that we rent,
so until those 2 things are a little more stable, no mini farm for me.

I would love to own my own house.
This will require a whole separate blog post since my ideal home is not just one building.
There are many things that I love about the house we live in,
(but there are also a lot of things wrong with it that I would fix immediately if I owned it)
like the fact that it used to be a barn, is made mostly of granite and has high ceilings.
Not to mention our F-ing awesome woodstove!
Maybe that will be a blog post I tackle soon...

Also, I would love to hear about you!
(I'm not used to talking so much about myself)
So please feel free to comment about yourself,
or better,
blog about it and leave a link!!!

Thought I would share:

Some things about me:

-I collect feathers...
(and shells, heart shaped stones, pretty stones, cool sticks, etc.. you get the point)

-I am a serious multi tasker and I always have multiple projects going on at once.
Not sure if this helps or hinders me, but I like to think helps.

-I went to school for herbal medicine, but I was born to be some kind of artist or crafter.

-I love the smell of the wood stove. And the wood that goes in it.

-I couldn't live without animals. I have 2 dogs and 1 parrot, but would really like to have chickens, ducks, a bunny or two, a goat and sheep.
Basically a small farm
(the bf and I are not on the same page about this)

-I love pretty little boxes.
And paper.
I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to sketchbooks and watercolor paper.

-I love snow and warm rainy days... and I LOVE thunder and lightening storms.

-Basil is one of my favorite herbs. It makes everything better.

-I used to love to climb trees, but sadly I don't really do it much anymore.

-I used to draw elaborate pictures of the house I wanted to live in one day.

-I believe in fae energy... since they are always stealing and hiding my teacup, keys, jewelry, phone, shoes, or whatever it is I am looking for or needing.

What are some things about you?

Stylish Blogger Award!

I was surprised and excited the other day to learn that Helen from Serendipity Child had chosen my blog as one of the blogs to award the Stylish Blogger Award to.
What an honor, I have never had an award given to me before!

As a receiver of this prestigious award I have several responsibilities:

1. Thank and link back to the person to gave me this award,
2. Share 7 things about yourself,
3. Award 15 Bloggers,
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

So first off, here are 7 things about me.

1. I love animals. Like a lot. I couldn't imagine a life without some sort of feathered or furry companion. Sometimes I like them more than people- sorry but that is the truth.

2. My Grandfather (who was called Grumpy) used to make little cartoons of me when I was young. He always said my mom gave birth to a puppy and he would draw me with a tail.

3. In relation to fact #2, my Grumpy also used to tell me that all dogs had a zipper on the back of their neck so that they could take off their fur suit to bring it to the cleaners. I still sort of think this is true (and if you have ever met my dog, Veda, you wouldn't put anything past her!).
...I also used to believer that he really swallowed the dice from when he would do the trick where he pretended to make disappear and reappear.

4. I love candy. Especially sour patch kids and gummy candy.
And I love cake.

5. I get really attached to things, its like everything has sentimental value so it is hard for me to just "get rid of" things. I like to know that they have a place to go.

6. I don't like sleeping in. It makes me feel like I have wasted the day. I like to get up before 8 a.m., plus I like the quiet of the morning.

7. I love winter. I am a true New Englander, the more snow the better! I just wish that I could afford to snowboard like I used to. But still, I love walking out in the woods with the fresh, clean and quiet white blanket. I also like being hunkered down and hibernating for a time.

Ok, now for the 15 Bloggers that I am passing this award on to:

These are blogs that I follow and read most frequently or that are most inspiring to me.

Make sure you check out all of these wonderful people!

Thank you to Helen (Serendipity Child)!

I hope you are all enjoying this snowy weather, or if you are somewhere there isn't snow, I hope you are having a lovely day!

Some Favorites to Share.

I have a LOOOOONG list of favorites on etsy.
So I thought that I would share a few of them with you!

First is this hat.
Totally in love!
Not only is it striped, but it is reversible too!
I typically don't buy clothes online, but I just might have to get this for myself!!!

These look so comfy...
Why do all the shoes that I like best cost hundreds of dollars?

Oh, hello stripes,
I am in LOVE with YOU!!!
This is the coolest color combo for stripes that I have seen.
Totally rad.
Totally want.

I have loved the artwork from this shop for a while,
but I never realized that she is only 1/2 hour away from me!
Maybe one day we will meet, that would be fabulous!
I am surprised that I am not posting one of her amazing bird pieces,
but I just love her whales!

Five Whales Stacked - Archival Print

I don't wear much jewelry,
but this is beautiful and simple.

Organic gold bangle with bronze and antler

I have been having a debate with myself about this jumper for a few weeks now.
Like I said before, I don't usually buy clothes on line,
but this is just soooo cute!

I am a total fiber junky.
This looks so beautiful, I can think of so many ways to use this fiber!

ICED LEMON AND LIME - Crosspatch Creations Stone Soup

These earrings are so simple and beautiful.
I love that they are made from real bark!

And lastly,
I have been made a resolution (not necessarily related to new years) that I am going to learn more about knitting and crocheting.
So I think this would be a great book to have...
...now, if only I could read japanese!

I'll share my night with you

I have been working on owls for a meeting on friday with a local shop.
So I have spent the rest of today working on them.
Here are some photos of my night from where I sit.

I also thought I would show some of the color in my closet,
and my outfit today.
I am not quite sure why I am sharing it, but the belt is one of the new things I have been making!

I think it is time to clean the mirror.
It is covered in smudges because it is the sliding door to the closet.
And one that doesn't work properly I might add, hence the smudges from hands...
What you can't see (and thankfully can't hear) are the curse words that sneak out every time I try to open or close said doors!

Hope you all have a lovely night!
