like a wild beast(ess)

I am having a kind of odd morning.
I feel like my head is full of self-defeat before I even get started.
Sometimes life can be hard and scary, sounds silly, I know.

Anyway, I have already had a battle with the package of bacon,
being half butcher and half wild beast(ess) trying to open the damn thing.
But I got it, no worries (I know you were all curious)!
Now I am trying to clear my mind of the emotional garbage that seems to be trying to beat me down so that I can get to work.

I think I need some inspiration.
Any thoughts?
I don't know what I am looking for right now...

So, how is your morning going?
We can all see how disjointed I am at the moment!

I think I woke up in a bit of a funk this morning.
So to remedy this I am playing some loud music,
bringing in firewood for the woodstove
and making some tea...

Then I will hopefully be motivated to work on a commission I have.
I had a weird dream last night about someone giving me a mini washer and dryer
(like the size of a mini fridge)
and I was so excited!
I know, I'm strange.

Hopefully my brain will start connecting with the rest of me soon.
Maybe it is the grey sky.

What do you do when you are in a funk?

it's like magic

What a rainy Sunday!
Is this not the happiest looking pup in the entire universe?
One huge smile as she ran towards me, oh how I love Miss Lou!

Her smiling doggy face makes me so happy, which is good because yesterday and today have been stressful...

First, my camera died.
I mean like dead, dead.
Not "crap I need new batteries... oh, I will get them tomorrow" dead.

Now I am looking to raise money to get this camera.
(so if there ever was a time to support my etsy shop, now is it! ha ha ha!)
But I did manage to get it to give me the last few photos I took on it today,
so that was good.

I really had quite the fit yesterday evening when I put the cotton I had mordanted into the dye jar I had been cultivating for the last few days.
My camera died and then
LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED!
If you remember the color it started from this post,

How amazing!?!
It went from a purply-fuchsia to blueish-purple!
I still can't get over it.

I immediately ran out to harvest a pint sized mason jar full of the flowers that I used!
Now I have some wool yarn that I spun up this winter and some cotton thread soaking in alum as we speak,
can't wait to dye them and see what happens.
I am thinking of using dock leaves.
Or maybe I will dig up the roots and use those...
Or maybe both! HA!

Also, I have some new crocheted necklaces in the shop
and here are a couple more that I will be listing sometime between today and toworrow evening.

These I am very excited about.
The stones are from a couple of friends up the street who mine here in New England.
It is alway fun to go over there!
I traded this batch for some work which you can see here in this post.

I am really excited,
I have some very nice pieces done and more in the process of...

So, how has your weekend been?
What did you do?

Birthdays, A Funeral and Current Projects

I have been in a bit of a funk for the last couple of days.
I have 3 birthday to celebrate this week, so it has been kind of hard to focus on making things for my business.

I had to go to a funeral sevice yesterday,
which was in fact very beautiful.
Probably the most wonderful service I have been too.
It wasn't hard to go to this service.
The man who passed was my "godfather" and a wonderful man at that who lived to be
90 years old!
I don't normally handle funerals well,
not that I know anyone who does,
but they are just so uncomfortable for me.
I tend to deal with those emotions more privately...
Anyway, this funeral was very nice and he had many, many friends who shared wonderful stories about how wonderful he was.
The hard part for me was that it was in the church where my fathers service was held
(and I haven't been there since).
There were also some family members there that have not been the most wonderful people to me, my mom or my sister.
(long boring story that just goes on and on...)
It was hard for me to see these people that play with my head,
it was heartbreaking actually.
But I guess that is life sometimes, right?

On a happier note,
before my funk I was able to get some more yarn finished and ready for dyeing
and some felted ready to be sewn/embroidered.

Now I have some watercolors to work on.
What have you been working on lately?
