I see the Universe in small things.

When days sit wild outside my door
and I am longing for the rush of melting snow.
Birdsong abundant,
the smell of wet earth
soft beneath my feet.

We bound out the door,
sunshine gleams in my hair.
Furry paws stepping carelessly on path, rock, twig, mud...

I am wild with delight.
Fresh air fills my lungs,
fills my soul.

I stop every so often to look up.
I listen,
I feel ,
I smell.
I take it all in.

And every so often I see the universe in the small things.
A decaying leaf,
constellations mapped out with twigs on the forest floor,
starlight smattered across tree bark with moss + lichen.

These are good days.

These are holy days.

I am whole.

Blogger is not cooperating.
I have been trying for the last few days to upload some photos onto a post, but they aren't registering...

Anyway, I didn't want you to feel lonely, so I thought I would leave you with this image:

and share this wonderful poem:

Sweet Darkness
When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.
When your vision has gone
no part of the world can find you.
Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.
There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.
The dark will be your womb
tonight.
The night will give you a horizon
further than you can see.
You must learn one thing:
the world was made to be free in.
Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.
Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.
