Naughty Dog

This was the day where Mu was an ill-behaved pup.

Aside from her being gloriously happy to run around in the field we visited in Ipswich, she obviously left her listening ears in the car. As soon as she saw some ducks down on the river she was running through the mud flats towards the water. All the hollering and whistling didn't recall her. I watched as she joyously flushed the birds, sending them flapping over the river, Mu still running behind, first through the mud, then through the shallows of the waters edge... And then PLOP! Even from as far away as we were up on the bank we could see the shock as the edge must have dropped off and Mu was fully swimming in the frigid water! She sure turned and hopped out as fast as she could!!!

We finished the walk with a rather wet and soggy Mu, but her bad behavior continued. After barking at a woman walking on the road as we circled back to the car (the woman had no idea) we hopped in the car and continued with our errands which included getting dog food, meat for dinner and a sandwich for lunch. On route home, we stopped to fill the water jugs and when I went to get back in the car I realized Bessie Mu had helped herself to the other half of my sandwich, which I had wrapped up and was saving for lunch the next day.
BAD DOG!!!
She got quite the scolding and true to form express ZERO guilt!
It is a darn good thing she is cute, but we weren't really speaking the rest of the day.

Oh dogs.

Do your dogs ever do such naughty things?

Anyway, I write this as Mu lays sleeping, snoring with her head in my lap.
I'm a sucker.

A day at the beach

This weekend was a mix of weather, but all of it spring-like.
This means everyone is out and there isn't a place to steal away and have all to ourselves.
After much indecision on the sunniest of days, we settled on going to one of the beaches around here. The small winter parking area was FULL! But no matter, we managed to fit ourselves in
and it ended up being a wonderful adventure.
There were dogs galore which meant our pups were more than happy.
It was bright, sunny, warm and vivid.

A Blank Canvas: Behind Are The Colors of Winter

...VVVVV...

I think one of the reasons I adore winter so much is because it is like I get to wipe the slate clean and start over with a brand new, blindingly white canvas.

Although there is a new and seemingly empty space to evolve and create in, it is far from boring, lifeless or colorless. The vibrant white of fresh snow contrasts with the rich browns and greens of pine trees, saplings and branches. The electrifying reds of leafless, sleeping raspberry stalks, winter berries waiting to feed birds and the roots of its own plant. Even the deep red of blood spotted around the site of where one animal was taken to feed another. There are shadows and shade and let us not forget the ultimate zest and sparkle of a clear blue winter sky looking down on the "sleeping" world with firm affection. No, the world IS white, but it is almost as if that alabaster is laid down gently and lovingly to show off what the land really has to offer. As if to point out the little things that ones eye might miss in the chaos, rush and vigor of the greenest and most lush time of the year.

I do love winter.
I need winter.
It is my time to renew and restart.
I am thankful.
