decorated stones and butterfly eggs

The other day I was happily sitting outside enjoying the nice weather,
aka a break from the horrid, hot and humid weather we had for a week.
(the only good thing about it was that it made the ocean seem like paradise to swim in, or at least more so than usual!)
Thought I would try out the new white paint marker I got,
so now my walkway is scattered with some decorated stones!
I kind of like it, maybe I will do more...

On a separate note, I was pulling the poppies from my garden to dry and save the seed pods and I found this leaf with eggs on it.
I am hoping they are butterfly eggs and that maybe I can hatch them and raise some lovely butterflies to release back into the world!

Anyone know anything about this, or what type of eggs they might be?

Look who Veda found!

Look who Veda found in the yard the other day!
This little fledgeling is still just getting its full feathers in, so it can't fly yet, but its parents are keeping a very close eye on him.
He was so so sweet, when I tried to pick him up, he opened wide for me to feed him!
He was sticking close to the nesting area and in the foliage, so hopefully he will make it to adulthood.
I am pretty sure this robin is the second clutch of the season from a pair of robins who nested in the old greenhouse.
How miraculous!
Oh man, I love birds!

Also, we have some baby cardinals hanging around the feeders (so cute! they are just getting their red) and a whole bunch of yellow finchies.
Last year we had Gus and Fredrika, the yellowfinch couple who took up residence here.
This year there are MANY and it makes me wonder if they are the offspring of Gus and Fredrika...
Plus, I am very excited to announce that a few strawberry finch have found their way to the feeders, so excited!
I have been trying to get them here all year!

Do you have feeders?
What kind of birds visit you?

worn by the tide

A little bit of what is new and to be expected in the shop...
Beautifully hand crocheted beach stones.
They are reversible, so it is like getting 2 for the price of 1.
The stones and smooth and well worn by the tide.
I just love them.

What do you think?

Meet my sister:

This is my sister, Amory.
She is a senior at Simmon's College in Boston studying nutrition.
She is very talented and has great style!

I am so excited because she has started a blog, Recipes to Fashion,
with the intention of combining fashion and food.
She will be posting about her outfits that she puts together,
mostly by bargain hunting, shopping at thrift stores, and DIY's
as well as recipes that are fast, cheap and nutritious!!!
Make sure to check out her blog where she has posted her first outfit post.
(and even has some of my jewelry as an accessory!)

my self seeded ornamental poppies

I have let the poppies go.
Underneath all of that foliage and flower there are vegetables fighting to have space.
Luckily the poppies are passing and soon I can harvest the seeds, dry pods and pull the rest out giving the garden back to the vegetables again!
But they sure are beautiful.
Do you have a garden?
What are you growing?

My Superhero Powers...

I think I woke up entirely too early this morning
and too quickly from my dream that I was having about being a super hero with super powers (dang! of course I can't remember what they were now...).
My head feels a bit fuzzy, you know the feeling when you wake up too quickly out of a dream?
Ick... Anyway, I am hoping to go see an old friend today which will be nice.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

wish i was here...

...on a boat...

It would be so nice to just sail around with nothing but the sea and sky around me and the salty sea air on my skin.
My head has been so full of non-sense and emotional "stuff" lately, I have been having a hard time focusing, so please do forgive me for for being distant.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer (I can't believe it is already past mid july! I am trying not to feel overwhelmed by how fast time flies).
I am trying to spend as much time in the ocean as I possibly can.
What is your favorite summertime thing to do?

We need to learn from the small things in nature. If a "weed" can grow out of a cold, hard place, so can we.

Trying to focus on the happy little things in life.

That and swim.

Night time working in the studio.

Sunset

Heavenly light shines upon us, each ray glittering like gold upon the sea...

A few new...

Crocheted crystal necklaces are in the shop!

Anyone doing anything fun and exciting today?
I honestly don't even know what to do with myself today,
it seems to be one of those silly days full of indecision.
Maybe I will go swimming, I love paddling around on my boogie board!

Hope you had a great Independence Day!!!
